This is another project we at Pixvalue were excited to develop. One of our veteran directors, Franklin, discovered a song online that immediately captured our hearts. The song, created by the artist Determination worldwide, blends Nigerian Pidgin English and Igbo in a way that felt powerful and deeply moving. We do not own the rights to the music, but we chose to create a fan-art film inspired by its beauty.
The song is a heartfelt prayer, asking God for guidance and strength to succeed in life when faced with challenges and obstacles. That message resonated strongly with our entire team. Like the artist, we all know what it feels like to lose direction, and how important it is to find a light that shows the way forward.
On the production side, the main challenge was more technical than creative. During development, we experienced unexpected data loss, which forced us to restructure our pipeline and build safeguards to prevent similar issues in the future. Out of this obstacle came opportunity. We designed and tested new in-house tools on this project, refining them through direct feedback from our team.
One of the standout innovations was a facial expression tool. Animators could pose a few key frames, and the tool would maintain those poses while layering in natural movements like blinks and brows. Another major debate was whether to give our characters mouths. We chose not to, pushing our storytelling in a bold new direction, and we are proud of how well it worked.
This was a remarkable process for Pixvalue. Despite setbacks, our team adapted and grew stronger. Just as the song says, it showed us the way.
